Sugar Plums
Ingredients
- 2 cups whole almonds
- 2 tsp grated orange zest
- 1/2 tsp ground allspice
- 1 cup finely chopped dried apricots
- 1 cup confectioners sugar
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
- 1 cup finely chopped pitted dates
Methods/steps
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Toast almonds in oven, 10 minutes; cool, finely chop.
- Combine honey, orange zest, cinnamon, allspice & nutmeg in a bowl. Add almonds, apricots & dates; mix well.
- Pinch off rounded teaspoon-size pieces of mixture & roll into balls.
- Roll balls in sugar; refrigerate on waxed paper in airtight containers for up to 1 month.
