Hash browns or hashed browns are a simple potato preparation in which potato pieces are pan-fried after being shredded, julienned, diced, or riced. In some cultures, hash browns or hashed browns can refer to any of these preparations, while in others it may refer to one specific preparation.

  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Bowls
  • Sauce pan
  • 13X9 greased pan
  • Knife

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of chopped onions
  • 2 lbs of hash browns
  • 12 tbsp melted butter – divided (half used at two different times)
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 print sour cream
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 8 oz. shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups of special K

Methods/steps

  1. Lay frozen hash brown and 1/2 chopped onions in a 13X9 greased pan.
  2. Mix half of the melted butter, cream of chicken soup, sour cream and salt together.
  3. Spread on top of potatoes and onions then sprinkle with cheese.
  4. Mix 2 cups of special K cereal with remaining melted butter and put on top of cheese and potatoes.
  5. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes.

I am a huge hush brown fan, I can eat Hush browns with anything !! Home made hush browns are nothing compared to the Mc Donald ones.
