Apple Fritter
Ingredients
· 1 egg, beaten
· 1 tbsp unsalted
butter, melted
· 2 tsp baking
powder
· 3 tart cooking
apples, peeled, cored, and cut into 1/3-inch round slices
· Approx. 2 cups
olive oil
· 2/3 cup milk
· 1 ½ cups all
purpose flour
· 1/8 tsp salt
· 1 tbsp granulated
sugar
· 1 lemon
Methods/steps
- In a bowl, whisk the egg, milk and melted butter.
- Stir in the dry ingredients; blend. Set aside.
- Prepare the apples and toss with juice from 1 lemon.
- Heat the oil in a deep skillet over high heat until hot, but not
smoking.
- Lightly dip the apple slices in the batter.
- Drop into the oil and fry until golden on both sides, about 5
minutes.
- Remove with a slotted spoon, drain on paper towels and place in a warm oven.
- To serve transfer all the fritters to a serving platter and sprinkle with a little extra lemon juice and sugar.
